Madagascar is considered one of the most unique places on earth with almost 90% of its plant life only found in the country. Ceropegia Simoneae is another unusual plant from Madagascar well worth keeping and another plant that is hard to find in your regular plant shops and garden centres. it also notoriously difficult to keep in stock, usually selling out quickly and then not becoming available again for several months as they are difficult to cultivate in large numbers.
Kept for its unusual growing pattern, with long long twisting stems with multiple leaves it only truly shows its beauty in summer when it pops with dozens of small flowers along each stem. The flowers are alien-like in appearance and really are wonderful to grow. Given enough neglect, it will thrive in a small pot for years - truly a plant that wants to be left alone.
While the advice is often to keep these plants very dry we find they do much better being kept very (very!) slightly damp, with access to bright light. Ceropegia Simoneaei looks beautiful cascading down a shelf or grown as a hanging plant.
If you are giving Ceropegia Simoneae as a gift, make sure you include your message at the basket stage. We’ll deliver the houseplant along with a free, handwritten card - and we’ll leave out the paperwork with the price on!
