Calathea warscewiczii is native to Costa Rica and Nicaragua and has beautiful large patterned leaves that have a stunning sheen and soft velvet feel to the touch.
You may see it in the pictures of magazines - it’s very distinctive. Imagine how it will look next to your sofa in a wonderful planter! It really does add a definite tropical flavour to a room which is always welcome particularly when it’s cold outside!
Like all Calathea plants, Calathea Warscewiczii is not poisonous or toxic to cats or dogs, making it a fantastic choice for people looking for an indoor pot plant.
What makes it even more unique is that the plant closes its leaves at night and opens them again in the morning, earning the common name prayer-plants. These plants are excellent air purifiers.
