Pachypodium Lamerei

Madagascar Palm is a fascinating houseplant, its trunk expands with water which helps it survive in really hot, dry climates.  The name ‘Pachypodium’ means ‘thick foot’ because of its water-storing capabilities.

The leaves of this style plant burst from the crown and drop down as they grow, giving Pachypodium Lamerei its characteristic looks and charm.  They are variegated - dark green and cream stripe - giving it a striking look.

Palms go dormant during the winter, its normal and natural for the leaves to yellow and fall away from the mother plant - so do not be surprised if some leaves drop. Growth will start up again in the spring when the days become longer and warmer.  It's normal and part of the growing cycle of this plant.
